Menstrual Hygiene Day – May 28th
#MHD2021
#OneGirlOnePad
Education Without Barriers, Cameroon joined the rest of the world to celebrate Menstrual Hygiene Day 2021. Commemorated under the theme “Action and investment in menstrual hygiene and health” EWB Cameroon team joined the HOTPEC orphanage family in mile 15-Buea in this year’s celebration.
Day 3 of the ONE GIRL, ONE PAD PROJECT lasted for over an hour and saw in attendance about 25 boys and girls. During this session, participants gained insights on Menstrual hygiene day and the best hygiene practices during menstraution. It was another opportunity to gift both reusable and disposable sanitary pads to young girls in the orphanage who are of puberty age.
Earlier on in the campaign, the EWB Cameroon team visited St. Therese Bilingual College and BAIRD Memorial College all in Buea for a similar exercise.
The day is celebrated to mark the importance of menstrual hygiene, break the stigma around periods, raise awareness and change the negative mind-set about menstruation.
This year’s celebration ended with a lot of positive vibes both from the team and our host.
We take the randevous for May 28, 2022
