#Day1 – Menstrual Hygiene Sensitization and Pad Distribution Campaign
A lot of us grew up with little or no prior knowledge about menstruation and menstrual hygiene. Some parents only whispered it, others considered it a taboo topic for discussion, leaving many young girls confused as they enter puberty age.
It is against this backdrop that Education Without Barriers, Cameroon paid a visit to St. Therese Bilingual College, to educate the girls of the institution on menstrual hygiene management. During this session with over 132 girls in attendance, the volunteers of EWB Cameroon, sensitized the girls on Menstrual hygiene day, menstruation, how to calculate and know their monthly period, their safe and unsafe periods and equally the best hygiene practices during menstruation.
The interactive session was moderated by Mme Isabel Akum-Director, EWB.
The project which is dobt the ONE GIRL, ONE PAD campaign, comes as a build up of commemorative activities, of the Menstrual hygiene day, come May 28.
These Girls drawn from examination classes benefited from 60 pieces of resuable pads and 100 packs of disposable sanitary pads.
The campaign is expected to run till the 28th of May 2021.
