I Suicide Is Not An Option
We are officially launching the “Suicide is Not an Option” campaign.
Following the recent trends of events where unsuccessful GCE Exam candidates turn to take lives and the fact that the release of results for the 2022 session of the Exam is around the corner, it is imperative that we start creating awareness about this phenomenon. This campaign has as objective to change the mindset of these students and deter them from nurturing suicidal thoughts and acting on them.
In this regard, we are also encouraging parents and guardians to make these students understand that failure is part of life. Parents are also advised to be more accommodating and understanding towards these children in times like this, build their morals and self-esteem so that they are not influenced by external peer pressure.
This is because low self esteem, the fear of insults, rejection and isolation are some of the reasons why these students choose to take their lives.
